Mistral AI x Rootly Integration

Mistral AI x Rootly Integration

AI is quickly becoming a core part of modern reliability engineering—not as a “magic button,” but as a powerful automation tool. With Rootly’s new Mistral AI integration, you can now embed Mistral AI’s reasoning and natural language understanding directly into any step of your Rootly Workflow, enabling smarter automation from incident creation to retrospective.

Why it matters

Rootly Workflows are the automation engine behind the platform, orchestrating how incidents and alerts are handled from start to finish. Now, by integrating Mistral AI, you can augment these workflows with AI-powered logic—letting you interpret context, summarize complex threads, and make better routing or triage decisions without adding manual steps.

Two popular use cases include:

  • Keeping summaries fresh: Automatically regenerate incident summaries as new data, bridge notes, and Slack messages accumulate—ensuring the incident record always reflects the latest context.
  • Suggesting who to page: Based on incident metadata, Mistral can recommend the most relevant team or service to notify, helping responders bring in the right expertise faster during high-stakes incidents.

How it works

  • Add a Mistral step to any workflow: Whether triggered automatically by alerts, incident creation, or retrospectives—or manually through Slack—Mistral steps fit seamlessly into your existing automations.
  • Flexible data control: You decide what data to share with Mistral, how to prompt it, and where to send its output (e.g., updating an incident field, posting to Slack, or adding a note to a retro).
  • Consistent experience: Mistral steps behave like any other Rootly workflow action, meaning you can chain them alongside existing integrations (Slack, Confluence, Linear, Datadog, Zoom, and more).
